New Linux Application Checker 2.1
We have released the next version of the tool to help ISVs to analyze the compatibility of their applications with various real world distributions.
The tool uses a snapshot of the information collected by the Linux Foundation about different distributions (e.g., 27 distros analyzed so far for the x86 architecture), primarily about what particular libraries and interfaces are provided by each distribution. By comparing this info with the external dependencies of the target application, Linux AppChecker points out specific compatibility problems, if any.
Along with the many minor improvements performed based on the collected feedback from past versions, the new features of this version include:
- An App Component report tab that adds a different view for analyzing application compatibility by its constituent components, which is extremely helpful for big applications that contain many components.
- The Auto Update feature that enables online updates of information about distributions from the Linux Foundation FTP site without the need to install new AppChecker versions.
- An added .hash section compatibility analysis.
Please try this open source tool and submit your feedback to lsb-appcheck-support@linuxfoundation.org or to the [lsb-discuss] list to help to make it better.
