dtk dependency question

Hi folks,

Glad to join in this mailing list. I am a newbie for
LSB and maybe this question is a little bit stupid, but I am confused that dtk
depends on lsb_release. If I have a distribution which is waiting for LSB
certification, the first step is to run dtk, but dtk requires lsb_release,
which is present for LSB compliant distro, but my distro is waiting for
certification and should not have this package, so seems I am in a dead lock
situation. Am I understanding something wrong? Appreciate your help very much!

Thanks,

Fan

If you're actually in the state of trying to pass the dtk
tests, then you need to provide lsb_release.  This doesn't seem to be much
of a conflict.  There's really nothing to prevent providing it even on
distributions which are not certified - for example, I run Fedora 8 and Fedora 9
with the LSB support packages installed, and while it's not in the Fedora plan
to certify, LSB things work just fine on the distribution
anyway.
